For localization and implementation of SDG’s India Water Foundation created its Center for Sustainable Development Goals in December 2015. It seeks to enhance peoples understanding on sustainable development so that they can be partners in development and analyze policies, programmes and actions. It also engages with UN agencies working on sustainable development and environment for added significance in the wake of Last Decade of Action to realize the goals invested and incubated in PEOPLE, PLANET and PROSPERITY. Its focus is on Localization and Customization of SDGs to leverage capacity building, best practices, innovations, case studies and social inclusion especially with marginalized sections, women and youth for overall SDG implementation through partnerships and intersectoral cooperation.
Purpose Since inception on 16 December 2015, Center for Sustainable Development Goals have spearheaded the realization of SDGs as they are intimately linked in myriad ways. Water, a vital resource is a socio-economic connector for every living being and serves as forward and backward linkages with sectors like health, education, gender energy, agriculture, industry and climate change.
Center for SDGs facilitates capacity building of stakeholders to fulfill the knowledge gap, dissemination and assimilation of knowledge, identification of critical issues hindering sustainable development. By agreeing to establish this Center, our message is clear – to ensure that we ACT NOW together in pursuit of a shared development vision’. Its broad objective is to achieve SDGs keeping water as the centerpiece and socio-economic connector to bring 17 SDGs under a common platform unified in mainstream localization, sustainability and inclusivity. It serves as a catalyst for developing a common strategic vision to facilitate sustainable achievement of targets and goals.
